Hello hello,
We are now 2 weeks and a day from our big move and either in really good shape or nowhere near ready. I'm honestly not sure which, but for better or worse, in two weeks and a day, we'll be on a plane.
Where are we at with prep, you ask? I should probably split this into a few blog posts but I won't. Here are the highlights:
The friend who is renting while we're gone is moved in and firmly settled in the guest room until we move out. We've also found new insurance to allow us to rent this place out legally and all that. It is wonderful having an extra adult around the house! I'm going to miss extra hands around the house.
Wisdom teeth are out. Not the most pleasant thing ever, but easier than some things I've done. *CoughC-SectionCough* Thank goodness for Green Thickies. They carried me through the bulk of my pregnancy and came to the rescue once again. I stayed away from the seedy berries this time, spiked them with whey protein isolate, and lived off those for a couple of weeks. Screw jello and pudding. Mango smoothies and chocolate-cherry smoothies rock!
Also, date paste is really easy to make. Dates, meet water. Have a nice time in the fridge and I'll see you tomorrow. (Combine equal parts chopped, pitted dates and water. Give a shake and leave in fridge ~24 hours, shaking every now and then. Looks gross. Works wonderfully.)
We hosted our first yard sale yesterday. If you'll allow me to wax philosophical for a moment, it's an odd milestone to realize that you've grown up enough and for long enough to have accumulated enough stuff to actually warrant a yard sale. While I stressed long and hard over the planning and kept wishing I had an "adultier adult" to lean on and brain-pick, in the end, the arms were thrown up, "good enough" was uttered several, several times, and the whole thing went off beautifully with the help of hubby, renter A, and a lot of coffee. Hurray! I'm really getting to like this "good enough" thing. Take that, perfectionist tendencies! Mwaha!
Then we had a wonderful treat when two of my aunties came by to clean our house before starting on a cross country adventure of their own. Now that's love. And a heap of stress off. And love.
Trying to get our bigger little guy to learn a few French words before we go. We're mainly covering the true essentials:
Bonjour = hello
Au revoir = goodbye
S'il-vous-plait = please
Merci = thank you
Une baguette, s'il-vous-plait. = One baguette, please.
... does anyone know how to get the circonflèxe over the i on here?
