Post-Partum Update - A break between insanities

What an eventful year 2014 was!

It started out with a difficult pregnancy that got more manageable around 18-20 weeks with a combination of medications, severely modified diet, rest, and support until 40 weeks and 6 days when I gave birth to a beautiful little boy via a wonderfully calm emergency C-section due to a mento-transverse presentation. (The little bugger tried to come out nose-and-mouth-first, basically.) While it wasn't the needle-free, home water birth I'd planned (plans, ha!) it was exactly the way this birth needed to happen. No regrets. No shame. No second guessing. I will forever be grateful to the midwives and doctors for their expertise, wisdom, and respect in getting my little one here safely.

Once he was born, my husband was fortunate enough to have a job that allowed him parental leave. He stayed home for three months while I recovered from my section with minimal complications and got back on my feet. These few months were precious and will always be a special time for me to look back on.

I also thoroughly enjoyed returning to a regular diet and tried to balance moderation with my desire to EAT ALL THE THINGS!!!  Ohh, food tasted so good!

Our little D is now 5 months old and definitely bigger than his brother was. So now, just as I'm starting to find a rhythm again, the paperwork we've been waiting on for months (and months...) has finally arrived and we have a 2 month crazy-time to prepare for our next adventure:

Ladies and gentlemen, we're moving to Provence!
